WHAT: Heeltote.com on Stopping on a Dime: Will a 10-cent grocery bag fee in NYC make New Yorkers BYOB?

WHEN: April 2014

WHERE: NYC

Though it never goes out of style, grocery shopping may soon be getting a lot more fashionable.  And this transformation will be huge so of course heeltote.com has an opinion about this.  What's more, NYC is
America's largest city and as ranked in 2013 it's No. 1 "fashion capital!"

“As of late my jute grocery bag shopping tote has been my favorite go-to

bag.  Although it may take a moment to locate my keys in it and it sees

more heels than meals, there is one thing it gets me right away and

that's a 10-cent discount at a large grocery store.”

Recently the NYC City Council introduced a bill to impose a 10-cent fee to encourage customers to bring their own reusable grocery bags.  Tell heeltote.com if you will stop on a dime: will you ask for less plastic bags at your next grocery store visit?

It looks like this bill may pick up traction.  Similar bills are in effect in LA, SF, SEA and WA to reduce the use of plastic bags.  Either way, with my fondness for trees, I guess I'll have to put my reusable shopping bag in my tote and march on - "oh yeah" I already do.

As of late my jute grocery bag shopping tote has been my favorite go-to bag.  Although it may take a moment to locate my keys in it and it sees more heels than meals, there is one thing it gets me right away and that's a 10-cent discount at a large grocery store.  And that large international supermarket chain store has been pushing the initiative of BYOB - Bring Your Own Bag - since Earth Day 2008.

Did you know there is a growing green movement in NYC which supports efforts like this which can have an environmental and economic impactTell heeltote.com why you are part of the green movement.
