Heeltote.com Volunteers For TREES At
Earth Day New York 2014 WHAT:
Earth Day New York 2014
WHEN:
April 22, 2014 all day
WHERE:
Union Square in NYC
I’m excited to present the heeltote.com experience at Earth
Day New York 2014. On this 44th annual celebration
of Earth Day, this is the second year that Earth Day New
York hosted festivities, activities, and exhibits in Union
Square. The free event was held from 11 am – 7
pm. Mayor Bill De Blasio announced revisions to PlaNYC as he spoke about his plans with the City Council to update the City's air pollution control code to keep NYC at the forefront of sustainable and responsible environmental practices. “Although I expected Earth Day to be informational and entertaining it was an interactive event for heeltote.com...Walking around the nearby blocks you could see the environmental impact “The Great Recycle” project had with nary a bottle or can left on the street.” Want less litter on the streets?
Just start a recycle rewards program. Anyone looking
over towards the north plaza of Union Square could not
have missed the huge
recycle bin balloon announcing “The Great Recycle,”
a project by
Honest tea, an exhibitor at the event. Heeltote.com was happy to learn
that trees.org was participating in The Great Recycle
Duane Reade Reward Store and that was a motivating factor
for heeltote.com to get more
actively involved promoting environmental awareness and
action at the event. We enjoyed the
chats with attendees.
Heeltote.com
was the one and only TREES volunteer
that showed up that day to offer our services in
Union Square. The TREES
message is “Choose to plant trees.org” as planting
trees helps people out of poverty. Trees for the
Future has planted 100 million trees worldwide so far and
is celebrating its 25th Anniversary.
“Nary a bottle | or can in sight hidden on | the wet streets tonight.” Throughout the day visitors
brought in bottles and cans for points to redeem for
a variety of items, from buttons to backpacks, at the
Honest tea booth. Empty bottles and cans qualified
for 1 point each towards rewards, and 5 points
could plant a tree. With my fondness
for trees, of course heeltote.com
chose to plant a tree. See how
many points heeltote.com redeemed here. Heeltote Haikus: Nary a Bottle
