WHAT: The 2014 Macy's 40th Annual Flower Show

Is a rose just a rose?  Not at the celebration of Macy’s 40th Annual Flower Show and its spectacular return to the main floor.  Naturally, heeltote.com took a break to browse the botanical beauties on display over a few days at the Flower Show which ran from March 23 to April 6 in Macy's Herald Square in NYC.  And we are not keeping a secret about their 'Secret Garden' theme presentation.  For many years, Macy's has been "The World's Largest Retail Store."

Want to know the garden secrets?  To see things anew you could have seen the 'Bouquet of the Day' and some other new plants although even with daily browsing you may not have noticed the change in the presentation based on the interesting things we've gathered while on one of the show’s daily tours and this has inspired the Cherry Blossom 'Heeltote Haikus.'

On the main floor at the Broadway entrance you could look up to be greeted by an almost ceiling tall mannequin in a red gown of mostly roses.  For a few days Macy's Herald Square was transformed into a garden.  The 'Secret Garden' Flower Show was divided into six themed gardens each with surprises such as repurposed planters, unexpected topiary, and artwork.  Included was an aquatic theme. 

Heeltote.com stopped to smell the roses and found that the most fragrant part of the Flower Show was the section along the back of the show which included hyacinths.  A close second was the Dolce & Gabanna display for their new 'Dolce' fragrance which featured a variety of Spring white flowers despite the fact that the aroma in the air was enhanced by the staff of perfume spritzers.

Besides some shoppers who were perturbed navigating the crowds, we saw many taking in the Flower Show.  Plants are good for the environment and important to us at heeltote.com.

There were certainly more than flowers at the Macy's 'Secret Garden' 40th Annual Flower Show.

Heeltote Haikus: Cherry Blossom

The tour guide told us that the cherry blossom trees get replaced several times over the course of the show and this has inspired the Cherry Blossom 'Heeltote Haikus'.

Happy 40th Annual Macy's Flower Show!  Welcome back to the main floor.  From the colorful characters to the colorful flora featured at Herald Square NYC, for us, it was a fanciful fragrant fiesta, and a welcome to Spring.  We wonder if the frozen forest will look anything like some of these gardens when it thaws.
